Christopher Gandolfo, who joined Swire Properties in Miami in 1997, has held a series of progressively more responsible positions in construction management, culminating in 2008 in his appointment as Director of the parent company, Swire Properties Ltd.
Gandolfo recently returned in 2010 from a two year assignment in Shanghai, China, where he managed pre-development of Swire’s massive Dazhongli project in the fashionable Nanking area. Upon his re-joining the Miami-based Swire Properties Inc., Gandolfo was promoted to Senior Vice President of Development, and will head up the team building the $1.05 billion Brickell City Centre project.
As head of construction for Swire Properties Inc. in Miami, a leading real estate developer in South Florida and U.S. headquarters for Hong Kong-based Swire Properties Ltd., Gandolfo has overseen almost the entire Swire construction portfolio in South Florida. Gandolfo has directed a number of construction projects of increasing complexity on Brickell Key, starting with the $5 million construction of the Islander Marketplace and culminating in the $110 million hotel Mandarin Oriental, Miami.
In 2004, Gandolfo completed the $185 million JADE condominium in the Brickell financial district, a project which he brought in ahead of schedule and below budget, despite its size and construction challenges. In 2005, Gandolfo was promoted to Director of Construction for Swire Properties and led the construction department whose recent completions include the $115 million Carbonell condominium and the $158 million ASIA condominium on Brickell Key. Gandolfo has also participated in Swire Properties’ feasibility analysis and pre-development planning for projects throughout South Florida.
Prior to joining Swire Properties, Gandolfo held a succession of construction management positions of increasing administrative responsibility for Paragon Construction International, overseeing the development of a $20 million resort in North Palm Beach and before that, for Turner Construction Company where Gandolfo worked for 10 years in a variety of project and contract management roles.
Gandolfo holds a bachelor of science degree in construction engineering from Florida International University, an MBA in real estate development from Nova University and took additional advanced management courses at INSEAD in Paris. Gandolfo is also a licensed general contractor.
